Compañía General de Carbones Group, - CGC Group -
has been an active supplier of energy products to the Spanish and Portuguese markets since 1916.
Through its network of stockyards, CGC supplies a wide range of national and imported carbon products such
as petroleum coke, anthracite, steam coal, metallurgical coke, amongst others. CGC also supplies specialised products
such as micronised petroleum coke or foaming coal – used in the steel industry.
During the past few years the Group has seized on the growing importance of environmental awareness and sustainability
by diversifying into renewable energies in the fields of biomass and recycling.
As a result CGC Group has become a leading supplier of biomass in Spain.
As an agricultural and forestry residual, biomass is considered an environmentally beneficial fuel.
This same environmental awareness has driven CGC Group to be a pioneer in tyre recycling – thus providing a disposal
service for a residual matter that has become a serious social problem.
In light of its activities, CGC has always relied on marine transport services and maintains a strong presence
in this sector through Box Marine, its Shipping Agency. Today Box Marine’s well developed commercial network is also
supported by terrestrial transport though its CGC Transportes division.
Solid Fuels, Biomass, Renewable Energies and Transport, therefore, are the four business areas upon which CGC Group has based
its differentiation strategy to be successful in the market.
Thanks to its simple structure and a team of more than 70 dedicated professionals, CGC Group has a sales turn
over of 54 million Euros, funds of 8,6 million Euros and assets totalling 43,5 million Euros.
